NOUK: is an indietronic & chamber pop band with creative center in Dresden. Their music breaks classical song structures without losing the charm and lightness of honest pop music. Sometimes string lines interweave with guitar and vocals to create a filigree poem setting, then drums, synth basses and circulating piano patterns build up to multilayered arrangements. In a very natural way, different influences merge into a multi-faceted overall sound.

NOUK is an extraordinary combination of jazz/folk and classical musicians and unites creative individuals of the local music scene. In their band, it is not uncommon for the classically trained violist to transition into an improvisation to drum grooves or for the acoustic guitarist, influenced by Argentine folklore, to create a polyrhythmic tapeloop. We explore new forms of expression and soundscapes, creating an individual, unique language.

Their debut album »Figures Afloat« is a pandemic grown mixture of tangible stories, abstract images and inner streams of thoughts. They question the forces that move them, symmetries and structures, static existence and time as a construct. Neither the music, nor the band resist going down unconventional paths. The physical product in the form of a lovingly designed record on vinyl and a graphic lithograph - an art print through stone slabs – is intended to create a nostalgic reference to the lyrics and expression of their music and to decelerate the consumption of our album.
»Waltz for a Custom-Made Friend« is a thought experiment, the what-if, the idea that you could buy a friend in the store. How would he/she look like, behave, move, and how would it feel if this friend sat in my living room and started a conversation?
»Symmetries« is a song about longing for closeness and points of reference that give you support and security within a society where everybody seems to live for themselves.

»Aurora« is our debut EP and it was released in 2018. Is was created as one whole arch, one journey, one big soundscape where we explored colors, atypical songwriting, field recording and so much more.
